197 AI products send more than 10K people a month to a checkout page. Only 20 passed a million visits in six months. The typical one sends about 3.1K people a month to pay: a small but real business.
Checkout visits are people sent to pay, not purchases. Treat them as the size of the funnel.
How many products already get paid in each niche, how fast its checkout traffic grew from April to September, and how much the biggest one takes.

See all 13 →Growth compares monthly checkout visits in April and September across all 15 checkouts. Niche labels are ours.
Almost no checkout traffic in April, 20K+ people a month by September. Most are small teams, and most aren’t household names.

Most AI products take payments through Stripe’s hosted checkout. Of everyone it served from April to September, this share came from AI products.
higgsfield.ai went from a rounding error to Stripe Checkout’s biggest single source of traffic between April and September. We can’t see why. What we can see is the shape: a creative-AI product turning attention into payments within weeks, not years.
Without it, AI checkout traffic across all 15 checkouts changed by +1% over the same months: one winner took nearly all of the new money. That is the game.
We followed 688 AI products for six months and compared the ones that grew with the ones that shrank. No guru advice, just what moved.
Grew or shrank = checkout visits in Aug–Sep vs Apr–May changed by more than a fifth. The rest held roughly steady.
In 3D generation, Model APIs & inference and Writing, detection & translation, more products grew than shrank. In Voice, music & audio and Professional & business, more than half shrank: the leaders are taking the market.
AI products under 5K checkout visits a month grew 52% of the time; bigger ones only 21%. Part of that is the small base, but there is clearly room to start.
8 of the 29 products that came out of nowhere were video or image tools, despite 226 competitors. But 54% of video products shrank: a specific audience or use case beats another general generator.
Products that grew and products that shrank use Stripe at the same rate (78% vs 80%). Pick one, ship it, and spend the time on the product.
Six months of modelled traffic is a signal, not a guarantee. Use it to choose where to look, then talk to the people paying.
Stripe Checkout sends 43M visits a month, about 61× all five merchant-of-record challengers combined. But the challengers grew +33% in five months, and the newest are moving fastest.
PayPal moves 124M a month but mostly from marketplaces like eBay and Etsy — a different market, covered in the case study.
Search all 22,010 companies by checkout traffic. Every row opens its own page: its rank, which checkouts its buyers use, and the companies in its niche.
Every buyer walks through a checkout page. We chose 15 of them, from Stripe and PayPal to the newest indie providers.
Traffic data records the page each visitor came from. Flip it around and you get a ranked list of sellers, without ever seeing their books.
We merged subdomains, removed search and social, and had language models read each homepage to label the AI products by niche.
